Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream Mattress Review

Sleep is an essential part of life and a lack of sleep can affect your general well-being. Few things are important to maintaining a quality sleep schedule than owning a quality mattress. That’s where Keetsa comes in. Keetsa was founded in 2005 and incorporated in 2007. In addition to the Tea Leaf Dream Mattress, they also offer the Keetsa Plus, the Keetsa Pillow Plus and the Keetsa Tea Leaf Classic. The company earned an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Keetsa’s line of beds range from memory foam to hybrids to iCoil Mattresses. They offer a wide range of comforting mattresses to suit all types of sleepers. We will be focusing on the Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream. Read on to find out if it is the mattress for you.

Comfort and Feel

The Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream is made for soft mattress lovers. It’s ideal for those who cherish a plush sleep surface. There is only one firmness option: medium soft. Sure, the Keetsa offers the Tea Leaf Classic for sleepers who prefer a firm bed, but that’s a mattress that deserves it’s own review…

The Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream mattress is sturdily built with 8 layers (which we will cover in detail in the Materials section). It combines individually wrapped coils, memory foam, and pressure relief foam as the main structural and comfort layers. These materials provide a soft, yet supportive surface with key pressure point relief in the shoulder and hip areas. While the memory foam lets you sink into a body-forming contour, the coils push back with support that keeps you from sinking so far in that the mattress traps heat. All of the ingredients for a comfortable and sound sleep can be found in this mattress. You get plush softness combined with a cradling and supportive feel that is ideal for side sleepers.

Edge Support

The Tea Leaf Dream provides good edge support. Typically, memory foam mattresses struggle in this department. But the beauty of hybrid beds is that they combine different materials to offset any potential weakness. Memory foam provides good pressure relief and motion isolation, but its weaknesses are edge support and the fact that it can retain body heat. Thankfully, the coils step in to offset those shortcomings. Coils provide a better edge support and air flow to balance the mattress perfectly. The coils in the Tea Leaf Dream are strong enough to support any sleeper right up to the edge of the mattress. No need to worry about slipping off of this mattress during the night. The edge support is strong without ever detracting from the mattresses’ overall softness.

Edge Support Rating: 4.65/5

Motion Isolation

Mattresses made with memory foam tend to offer the best motion isolation. The Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream mattress has 2 layers of BioFoam memory foam at the top of the mattress. Below that lies their Pressure Relief Foam. The two foams combine for very impressive motion isolation. Hybrid mattresses generally aren’t known for their motion isolation, but Keetsa’s layers of BioFoam and Relief Foam take care of that shortcoming, making this mattress an ideal choice for couples. No matter how much your partner moves or gets out of bed during the night, , you will not be disturbed for a second with the Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream mattress.

Temperature

Temperature regulation is not a feature that all mattresses offer. This feature is dependent on the type of materials used in making the mattress. The Tea Leaf Dream is hybrid mattress, which tend to sleep cooler due to the free flow of air through the coil system. Keetsa’s iCoil system does an impressive job of balancing out the memory foam layers, which are notorious for retaining heat. Another benefit is Keetsa’s fiber padding that wicks away moisture and increases airflow. This is another example of the benefits of hybrid beds: the materials work together to offset any shortcomings. I was quite impressed by the Tea Leaf Dream’s ability to maintain a comfortable and stable temperature.

Off Gassing

Keetsa’s Tea Leaf Dream is reported to have a somewhat more intense off-gassing odour than most. Although this odor tends to dissipate in a few days, you may have to deal with the “new mattress” smell of the Tea Leaf Dream for upwards of a week. Customers that wish to purchase this mattress should consider using mattress protector for the first few days. Also, proper ventilation in the room will help dissipate the odour faster. Either way, the Tea Leaf Dream’s off-gassing is less than ideal. Fortunately, this is little more than a minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent mattress.

Off-Gassing Rating: 4.4/5

Delivery and Set Up

Keetsa mattresses are compressed and wrapped in plastic for delivery. Once the packaging is opened, the mattress will expand to its full shape within three days. Delivery service is offered to all the states in U.S, including Alaska and Hawaii as well as Canada. Delivery to all of the contiguous states in U.S is free (and even some areas in Canada, which is rare). Customers living outside these areas, should contact Keetsa for a delivery quote. Also, special delivery services in San Francisco/Berkeley, Los Angeles, and New York City will incur additional charges as well.

Delivery is coordinated by FedEx Ground. After making an order, customers should expect their delivery within 7 to 10 working days. There is no specific delivery date or time set for any customer. Keetsa takes responsibility for all the duty and customs fees for customers ordering from Canada. Customers who reside in cities where Keetsa showrooms are located (San Francisco/Berkeley, Los Angeles, and New York City) may contact their local store for special delivery services at an additional charge.

Normally, old mattress removal services are not available to customers, but those residing in San Francisco/Berkeley, Los Angeles, and New York City can ask the Keetsa stores in their areas to coordinate old mattress removal. Customers that cancel their order after the mattress has been shipped will have to pay for the return shipping fee.

That’s a pretty impressive shipping service from Keetsa that should not be overlooked.

Materials

One of the primary reason we chose to review Keetsa’s Tea Leaf Dream Mattress, along with every other product on this site, is because it utilizes organic, natural, and CertiPUR-US Certified foams. CertiPUR-US is a certification program administered by a not-for-profit organization.

CertiPUR-US certified foams are:

✓ Made without ozone depleters.

✓ Made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (”Tris”) flame retardants.

✓ Made without mercury, lead, and other heavy metals.

✓ Made without formaldehyde.

✓ Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

✓ Made with Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality.

Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream’s materials are laid out as follows:

  1. Hemp Blend Cover: A soft, smooth, and durable fabric certified for safe contact with skin.
  2. Fire Barrier: A cotton fabric treated for fire safety and tested to ensure it contains no harmful substances.
  3. Fiber Padding: A fiberfill keeps you cool by wicking away moisture and increasing air flow.
  4. BioFoam: A double layer of memory foam conforms comfortably to your body shape and temperature, creating a contour that cradles you for a pressure-free sleep.
  5. Pressure Relief Foam: A foam designed to let your shoulder and hip areas sink in, dissipating key pressure points.
  6. High Density Foam: A supportive foam layer that enhances the recovery and durability of the mattress.
  7. iCoil: Individually wrapped coils ensure balanced support by separating weight and motion. The coils also provide breathability to reduce heat gathering at the core of the mattress.
  8. Edge Support: An encasing foam that provides solid support all the way to the edge of the mattress.

These are responsibly sourced and eco-friendly friendly materials that aren’t commonly found in mattresses. The price tag does, however, reflect the more expensive materials that were used in this mattress. We feel that it is worth paying more for a bed that is a healthy alternative to sleeping on cheap and synthetic foams that could be harmful.

Trial and Warranty

Keetsa provides a 90-night sleep trial for all of their mattresses. The trial period has a 30-night mandatory break-in period, so customers will have to use the mattress for at least 30 nights before they can ask for a refund.  Customers that wish to return their mattress will have to pay a processing fee, which is equivalent to 10% of the original price. Customers that didn’t buy their mattress directly from Keetsa are not eligible for this trial period.

Keetsa also offers a 12-year non-prorated warranty. Warranty coverage begins on the date of delivery. Keetsa will repair or replace mattresses with defects for as long as the warranty is valid. However, there are terms and conditions that must be followed. For example, the warranty is contingent on the use of a proper support system. Also, any defects to the mattress that are a result of burns, cuts, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to owner misuse, improper cleaning, or inadequate support will be not repaired or replaced. Customers are responsible for shipping and handling costs unless Keetsa determines the mattress is defective, in which case the company will cover these costs.

The warranty is exclusively available for original owners that purchase their mattress from Keetsa or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will not be eligible for warranty coverage. All told, that is a pretty solid trial and warranty. The 10% return processing fee may turn some people off, but when you consider Keetsa’s cost of shipping and manufacturing, it is more than fair.

Overall Value and Recommendation

The Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream mattress is a great bed that performs above average in every aspect except for the off-gassing, which is a bit more pungent  than other mattresses.

The two-layers of memory foam did a great job of isolating motion, so you will even sleep soundly with a noisy sleep partner. The conformity of this mattress is top notch. The coils also help this mattress rate high thanks to the superior airflow, temperature regulation, edge support, and bounce that they provide. The durability for all Keetsa models is on par with other hybrid mattresses and their use of unique and eco-friendly materials earns them extra points as well. However, their trial and warranty is fairly middle-of-the-road as most companies are shifting to longer trial periods and lifetime warranties.

The price of the Keetsa Tea Leaf Dream mattress is slightly above average for a hybrid mattress. However, if you are a value-conscious and luxury-loving buyer, you won’t have problem with adding a few dollars to purchase this great mattress. It’s worth the money. This mattress is designed to provide almost anyone with a perfect night’s sleep.
