The major materials used in the construction of layla sleep pillow is shredded memory form, kapok fiber and the cover is made from a combination of polyester, viscose, and Lycra spandex infused with copper fiber. Kapok fiber is an organic material gotten from Ceiba tree or the silk cotton tree. Kapok fiber is similar to cotton, it is comfortable and fluffy. It is also hypo-allergic, which means sleepers with skin infection or allergies can comfortable sleep on any pillow made with kapok fiber. Kapok fiber also have insulation ability, it can regulates temperature based on the temperature of the environment.

Shredded memory foam is similar to memory foam. The only difference is that, shredded memory foam has been cut into small pieces which makes pillow made with shredded memory foam more snuggly than normal memory foam. The pieces move independently of one another, making the pillow much more comfortable. Memory foam is a synthetic material made from polyurethane. Even though memory foam is a synthetic material, layla sleep pillow is certified by CertiPUR-US.

The cover is a blend of polyester, viscose and Lycra spandex. Polyester is a 100% synthetic material while viscose is also synthetic but not 100%. The combination of these materials brings out the best of each material making the cover as soft and breathable as possible. Ordinarily, the use of either of the pillow may have a flaw nut the combination of these materials reduces the flaw of the cover to a minimum.  The only problem sleepers can have with the cover used in layla sleep pillow is the fact that it is not eco-friendly. However, the pillow is certified to be safe for use. The copper fiber also infused in the cover makes the pillow to sleep cool. Layla sleep pillow has excellent moldability and it is very good for sleepers that enjoy snuggling. The pillow is soft and comforting. It however, has only one firmness option which may be a problem for sleepers that enjoy having more than one firmness options. The pillow keeps a cool temperature, this can be attributed to the copper infused fiber used in the cover. Ordinarily, shredded memory foam pillows are known to sleep hot, but layla sleep pillow is different and sleeps hot. This makes sleepers sleep comfortably.  Although, the pillow is fairly heavy, this makes it hard for movement and adjusting. Sleepers that enjoy moving their pillow from one place to another will find it discomforting because of the weight. The pillow conforms quite well although some sleepers complain it sink in too much which can be a cause for concern.

A pillow that sinks in too much will not be able to distribute pressure to other part of the body properly, the pressure will most likely be on the neck which is not good for sleepers. However, the kapok fiber used in the pillow provides good support to the pillow. The pillow only has one firmness option and unfortunately, the option cannot be adjusted using fillers. This makes it difficult for some type of sleepers, stomach sleepers will find the mattress to firm.
