Review of Helix Mattress Protector

Helix makes a statement as one of the lowest maintenance mattress protectors, while it might be a little on the cheap side. Do they scrimp on comfort to achieve such ease of use? Is it worth spending money on? Let’s find out below.

Material

Helix is well known for making traditionally customized mattresses, but their mattress protectors adopt a different approach. The Helix mattress protector fits all mattresses that are up to 15 inches thick. It covers all five sides of the mattress except the bottom and is constructed from premium quality knitted and structured 100 percent polyester fabric that prevents liquids from spilling over. The underside of the mattress is 100 percent waterproof, yet breathable. The polyester is softly knitted and noiseless. The material has an elastic nature so that even if you use it on a smaller size bed and have a bit of excess fabric, you can conveniently tuck it under your bed with its elastic grip. You might have to deal with a bit of rustling noise and looseness, though.

Comfort

The super soft top knit nature of the Helix mattress protector is top-notch. Here, Helix doesn’t tone down on quality to keep up with its low maintenance promise. The protector does a superb job at adapting to any kind of mattress so long as it is not beyond 15 inches deep. It is completely waterproof and yet breathable. The top knit polyester is super absorbent while the background material completely blocks every drop of water down to its last molecule. The protector is flexible, yet maintains a cozy feel. This mattress does not suffer from the same problem that its Bear counterpart suffer from; if you sleep hot and want to maintain a low maintenance protector, the Helix is for you.

The high point of the Helix mattress protector is the fact that it washes well in machines and you can put it in the dryer without any repercussions. What this means that it is easy to spot and clean up stains as quickly as possible. There is also a unique way that it manages spills; instead of the spills to spread, it causes them to cling together and pool so that nothing gets through. This keeps the spill area small and easy to clean.

A noticeable problem, though, is that if you use the Helix with thinner mattresses, the Helix mattress protector might move around and squeak a little when you lie on it. But that’s about the only noticeable con.

Value

The Helix mattress protector ranges from $75 to $99 across various sizes. The Twin size is the cheapest of them with an asking price of $75. Following that is the $85 Full size, then we have the $90 Queen size. The costliest of the sizes is the King size (up to $99). Delivery time varies between 2-6 business days. These might not be the cheapest prices on the market, but they are pretty cheap for all that quality. It’s thick, cozy and can take some beating for a long time. It’s a great investment.
